In 2007, CM, then age 25, had a scheme where he deposited fraudulent checks ($400,000.00) into two different branches of a bank: one in Salem and one in Haverhill. He then went into a third branch of the same bank, this time in Lawrence, and was able to withdraw cash from the bank ($13,000). The fraudulent checks bounced but CM had the $13,000.00. CM was charged in Salem District Court and Haverhill District Court with uttering a fraudulent check and he was charged in Lawrence District Court with Larceny. All the charges were felonies. All three cases went into warrant status when CM failed to appear for his arraignments in each of the three courts. For thirteen years CM remained on the run. He had moved to California. In 2020, the Mass. RMV revoked his right to drive due to the outstanding warrants. California, in turn, revoked his Californa license. CM was running an automobile repair shop and absolutely needed his license. CM communicated with and retained Attorney Robert Lewin from Andover. Unfortunately for CM the bank was still in business and the police had retained all the evidence necessary to prosecute the three cases. In 2020, in an effort to clean up the warrants and get the cases cleaned up, CM returned to Massachusetts and went to the three courts with Attorney Lewin. Attorney Lewin had conferenced each of the three cases with the Assistant District Attorneys in each of the three courts and had come to an agreement that CM was happy with. Each of the three cases were contiued without a finding for a year to be dismissed if CM stayed out of trouble. All the warants were cancelled and CM got his driving privileges reinstated. All was good … until CM returned to California and within two months got arrested for possessing a stolen motor vehicle and for a domestic assault and battery. The domestic charge never made it to court; however, CM took a hit in California on the stolen motor vehicle charge. He got a 3 year sentence and ended up serving 18 months of the 3 years.
Now back here in Massachusetts when his three cases came up for dismissal, each court ran his crimimal record and his conviction in California showed up. Each of the three courts issued a Notice of Probation Violation with a court hearing date. CM remained in California, failed to appear on the court dates, and warrants were issued in all three courts (and once again his right to drive was suspended).
Once again CM contacted and retained Attorney Robert Lewin to try to clean up the three probation violation matters. Attorney Lewin went to work.
Salem District Court was the most accomodating. The DA’s Office and Probation agreed that CM could appear remotely by Zoom. On February 13, 2025, Attorney Lewin appeared in person in Salem District Court and CM was on the Zoom. By agreement, the warrant was cancelled, the probation violation was dropped, and the Salem case was dismissed. CM was DISCHARGED from any further responsibility to the Court in the Salem case. Win #1. One down two to go.
Unfortunately neither Lawrence District Court nor Haverhill District Court would agree to resolve the probation violations without CM coming to Massachusetts and appearing in person in court. CM was quite afraid that if he came back to Massachusetts that he would be sentenced to jail for the probation violations. Attorney Lewin was successful in getting the probation department in Lawrence District Court to agree that if CM returned to court and agreed that he was in violation of probation, that the Lawrence Probation Officer would recommend that his probation be terminated. The probation department in Haverhill District Court was dug in and they wanted a 6 month jail sentence. Attorney Lewin was very confident that he could get the Judge in Haverhill to not send CM to jail.
Finally on November 19, 2025, CM flew out to Massachusetts from California. On November 19, 2025, CM and Attorney Lewin walked into Lawrence District Court. The case was called and Attorney Lewin and the probation department informed the judge that they had an agreed recommendation that CM’s probation be terminated. The Judge listened to the facts of the case and the alleged violation and then ordered the warrant cancelled and CM’s probation terminated. CM was DISCHARGED from any further responsibility to the Court in the Lawrence case. Win #2. Two down one to go.
On the next day, November 20, 2025, CM and Attorney Lewin walked into Haverhill District Court. The case was called and a full probation violation hearing took place. During the hearing Attorney Lewin was successful in getting most of the evidence the probation office was offering ruled inadmissible by the Judge. Attorney Lewin had prepared strong arguments for CM not to go to jail and not to suffer any further punishment for a case that originated back in 2007. The Judge in Haverhill agreed. As in the other two courts, the warrant was cancelled and CM’s probation was terminated. CM was DISCHARGED from any further responsibility to the court on the Haverhill case. Win #3.
CM and Attorney Lewin walked outside the courthouse. CM is a big man. He gave Attorney Lewin a huge bear hug and practically lifted Attiorney Lewin off the ground. CM was so excited. (CM – who uses the name David King – posted a five star review on November 20, 2025 on GOOGLE. … But that is not quite the very end of the report
After CM and Attorney Lewin left Haverhill District Court, CM went to the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Lawrence to get his driving privileges reinstated. At 4:10 in the afternoon CM called Attorney Lewin from the RMV. The RMV needed paperwork from the Salem District Court that the warrant had been cancelled (back in February). Attorney Lewin called the Clerk’s Office in Salem Court and they immediately emailed to Attorney Lewin a Notice that the warrant in Salem had in fact been cancelled. Attorney Lewin forwarded the email with the notice attached to CM who was at the RMV in Lawrence. At 4:25 that same afternoon, the RMV reinstated CM’s right to operate. On November 21, 2025 CM flew back to California and got his California license reinstated.
Results like this are typical for Attorney Robert Lewin. Attorney Lewin was an Assistant Distruict Attorney from 1972-1975, and for the last 50 years has dedicated his practice solely to criminal defense. There are very few lawyers who bring the years of experience and simple know-how to criminal defense as does Attorney Lewin. He goes the extra mile for his clients and the results he gets show it.
